Apple Pie Monkey Bread
Monkey bread is one of my favorite treats to make. It’s delicious and you can have as much or as little as you want...you don’t have to feel guilty if you sneak a little “sample”.
Ingredients:
1 (20 ounce) can apple pie filling
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 Tablespoon flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 Tablespoons melted butter
3 cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
3-4 Tablespoons milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large bowl, mix together sugars, flour, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
Separate and cut biscuits into quarters or smaller.
Add biscuit pieces to sugar mixture and toss to lightly coat.
In another bowl, empty can of apple pie filling and run a knife through the apple slices to get them into bite-sized pieces.
Pour apple mixture and melted butter over biscuit mixture and gently stir to coat evenly.
Dump mixture into a well greased bundt pan.
Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 – 15 minutes until lightly browned.
While the monkey bread is cooking, make the icing by mixing the sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and add milk until you get the desired consistency.
Immediately upon removing from oven, tip the pan upside down onto a serving dish to release the monkey bread while still hot so the gooey goodness doesn’t stick.
Drizzle the glaze over the top and serve while warm.
