Strawberry Trifle


Splendor in the glass!

Who can resist such a fabulous dessert that promises sweet delight in every bite?

Ingredients:

2 lbs. strawberries, washed and hulled 1 cup granulated sugar

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

1 cup confectioners' sugar

2 tubs (8 oz. each) frozen whipped topping (like CoolWhip), thawed 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk

1 1/2 cups cold water 1 (3.5 oz.) package instant vanilla pudding mix 1 (12 oz.) ready-made pound cake, cubed

Directions:

Slice 6 - 8 strawberries for layering on sides and garnishing top (Picture shows 6, but wish I had more for garnishing top). Blend remaining strawberries and sugar in blender or food processor.

Combine sweetened condensed milk, cold water and pudding in a bowl and beat well. Chill pudding mixture for 5 minutes.

Cut pound cake into bite-size cubes.

In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and confectioners' sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Reserve 1/2 cup whipped topping mixture for decorating / garnishing top using decorating tip, if desired.

Layer pudding, pound cake, sliced strawberries, strawberry mixture, and whipped topping mixture. Repeat the layers. Garnish with sliced strawberries and reserved whipped topping mixture, if desired.

Tip: Can also be prepared using stemmed glasses or individual glass serving dishes.
